Streaming & Playback

Buffering usually occurs when your connection cannot sustain the stream's bitrate. Try the following steps: • Switch to a lower quality (360p or 480p) from the player's gear icon (⚙). • Select a different server from the server panel — a geographically closer server can dramatically reduce latency. • Pause for 10–15 seconds to let the buffer build up before resuming. • Close other bandwidth-heavy tabs or background downloads. • Clear your browser cache and hard-refresh the page (Ctrl+Shift+R). If problems persist across all servers, the streaming provider may be experiencing temporary congestion.

Intermittent freezing is usually caused by an unstable connection or server-side congestion. Click the server icon in the player to switch to a backup — servers often have very different performance characteristics. Refreshing the page should resume playback near your last position. If freezing only happens at a specific timestamp, the stream file itself may have an encoding issue; please report it using the flag (⚑) button so we can source a better version.

Click the gear icon (⚙) inside the video player and select your preferred quality from the dropdown: 1080p, 720p, 480p, 360p, or Auto. "Auto" dynamically adjusts quality based on your real-time connection speed. For the smoothest experience on a fast connection, pin it to 1080p or 720p manually.

Yes, VPNs are generally compatible. However, some third-party streaming servers actively block known VPN IP ranges, which can cause 403 errors or slow speeds on certain servers. If you encounter issues while using a VPN, try switching to a different streaming server or temporarily disabling the VPN to isolate the cause.

Servers & Quality

Our streaming servers are hosted by third-party providers that can go offline for maintenance, migration, or regional issues without advance notice. Each episode lists multiple servers as fallbacks. If a server is consistently down, please flag it with the report icon next to the server name — we actively prune dead links based on user reports.

We continuously update streaming sources to maintain playback quality. When a provider migrates infrastructure, rotates URLs, or shuts down permanently, we replace those servers with updated or better alternatives. You may occasionally find that a server you used before is gone — this is expected behavior to keep content reliably playable.

Yes. Some third-party providers display pre-roll or mid-roll ads to fund their infrastructure. We try to clearly label server quality (e.g., "Premium", "Fast", "Backup") so you can choose the best option. Servers labeled "Premium" or "Fast" typically have fewer interruptions. We are continuously sourcing higher-quality, ad-light providers.

Each streaming server independently encodes and hosts its own version. One server might offer 1080p while another caps at 720p or 480p. Quality badges are displayed next to server names in the selection panel where available. Pick the server that matches your preference.

Account & Features

No — browsing and streaming require no account. However, registering unlocks: a synced watchlist, continue watching across all your devices, episode progress tracking, comment participation, and new-episode notifications. Without an account, progress is saved only in your browser's local storage and won't carry over to other devices.

When logged in, your playback position is automatically saved to your account after watching for at least 30 seconds. The "Continue Watching" row on the homepage shows your recent titles with progress bars indicating exactly where you left off. Without an account, progress is stored locally in your browser and is not synced across devices.

On any anime detail page, click the bookmark icon or the "Add to List" button and set a status: Watching, Plan to Watch, Completed, On Hold, or Dropped. Your full watchlist is accessible from the profile icon in the top navigation bar.

Yes. Go to account settings and open the "History & Data" tab. You can remove individual entries or wipe your entire watch history at once. Please note this action is permanent and cannot be undone.

Use the flag icon (⚑) in the video player controls or on the episode listing page. Select the issue type — broken stream, missing subtitles, wrong episode, poor quality — and submit. Our team reviews reports daily and typically resolves critical issues within 24–48 hours.

Content & Availability

Availability depends on whether our third-party streaming providers carry the title. Very recent simulcasts, niche older series, and regionally restricted titles may not be available. Also try alternate spellings — search "Shingeki no Kyojin" if "Attack on Titan" yields no results, or vice versa. If a title you want isn't listed, you can request it via the Contact page.

Individual episodes can be unavailable if the stream source doesn't have them yet or if they've been temporarily removed at the provider level. Missing episodes are usually restored within a few days. Use the report button on the episode list page to flag a gap — this helps us prioritize restoration of missing content.

We aim to add new episodes within a few hours of their original Japanese air time, as soon as streams become available from our providers. For currently airing series, enable the bell notification (🔔) on the anime detail page to be alerted the moment a new episode appears.

Yes, dubbed versions are available for many popular titles. On the episode player page, look for the "DUB" toggle in the server/audio selector. Dub availability varies by title and depends entirely on what our third-party providers offer.

💬

Subtitles & Audio

Subtitles are served by the third-party streaming provider alongside the video. If they're absent, try switching to a different server — some offer soft subtitle tracks while others use hard-coded (burned-in) subs. If no server has subtitles for a specific episode, please report it so we can source a corrected stream.

Yes. The player settings (⚙) include controls for font size, text color, background opacity, and vertical position. These customizations only apply to soft subtitle tracks. Hard-coded subtitles are rendered into the video itself and cannot be modified through our player.

Use the subtitle offset control in the player settings to shift timing forward or backward in 100ms increments. If the desync is consistent across all servers for a given episode, please report it with the estimated offset amount — this helps us prioritize sourcing a corrected stream.

English subtitles are available for the vast majority of titles. Some popular anime also carry Spanish, Portuguese, French, or other language tracks, depending on what the provider offers. Check the subtitle language selector in player settings to see what's available for a specific episode.

Technical Issues

A black screen usually means the stream failed to initialize. Work through these steps in order: 1. Refresh the page (F5 or Ctrl+R). 2. Switch to a different server from the server panel. 3. Clear your browser cache (Ctrl+Shift+Delete) and reload. 4. Temporarily disable any ad-blockers — they can intercept video player scripts. 5. Test in a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, or Safari). If the black screen persists on all servers across multiple browsers, the stream source is likely temporarily offline.

Some streaming servers enforce geographic restrictions on their content. Switch to a different server in the server panel — regional blocks vary per server and provider. Setting a VPN to a less-restricted region can also help, though results depend on the specific server.

These errors mean the stream URL has expired or no longer points to a valid resource. Hard-refresh the page (Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows/Linux, Cmd+Shift+R on Mac) to force fresh URL retrieval. If the error persists on all servers, the episode links need updating on our end — please report it so we can prioritize fixing it.

First, verify the issue is specific to AnimeX by visiting another site. If it's isolated to our platform, try clearing your browser cache, disabling all extensions, and reloading. Check our official social media channels for any announcements about scheduled maintenance or service disruptions.
